We only have such a limited time on this world and yet the things we want to do, the plans we have can never (all) fit within this limited time.
From the time I got my first vehicle, I have been a big fun of customization – most people call it pimping, – but I refuse to call it that. To me, it is making adjustments to what is the default style of something and making it more personal.
If you have any clue about who I am, you definitely know that I am a speed junkie, love speed and everything fast – No, I haven’t driven a sports car yet, hopefully before I die!
A few days ago I finally made the decision to acquire one of the things that has been on my bucket list for a long time – a bike! I was torn between buying a racer bike or a cruiser. I actually spent a lot of time in the market, went to Ndeba many times looking at all these bikes trying to convince myself on which one of the two I should settle for.

Obviously all my friends wanted me to get a racing bike – apparently it is classier! Long story short, I settled for the Honda Steed NC26 with 400cc. I honestly I did not like it much when I got it. See, I do (well, now its did) not actually know how to ride a bike that is bigger than a boda boda! Ya, I know…Who buys a big bike when they do not know how to ride it?! Ding ding ding me!!
When I was trying out the Suzuki, the bike was a little to high. For the record, I am not short!, while on the Steed, I can step firmly on the ground with both feet – and that right there is why I opted for the Steed.
Like I mentioned earlier I never liked the look of the Steed. I hated that it looked like any other bike you will find on the street being ridden by an up-coming music artist – that is what two of my friends described the steed riders. So, I decided to customize it. I have a number of changes I want done on it, I shall share the final style I am going for but first, I shall take you through the process.
Phase One!
I made the call to customize the other day and today was day one. I got rid of the ugly side cover that had a hole on it, cut the back part of frame to remove the big rear fender.
Changed the seat – I hate the long seat and replaced it with the spring saddle style seat that is more comfortable and stylish.
Changed the big Honda Shadow fuel tank with a small tank
Sprayed it blank and maroon stripes on fuel tank.
Here is how it looks like with the above changes.
Next Phase
Add a speed meter to the front – the speed meter was on the tank that I removed.
Wrap the exhaust pipes with a heat insulating stylish wrapper
Add lighter rear bumper
Change the handles for T-style handles.
I am calling Project Bob the Steed.
This is what I am going for!
